Overview

About Dhauladhar Himalaya & Kangra Valley
The Dhauladhar range is part of a lesser Himalayan chain of mountains. It rises from the Indian plains to the north of Kangra and Mandi. Dharamsala, the headquarters of Kangra district, lies on its southern spur in above the Kangra Valley, which divides it from Chamba . The Khauli River valley is a spectacular, impressive and untrodden valley of the Dhauladhar Himalayas of Himachal Pradesh. It?s geographic diversity offers verdant, forested valleys and the flowered meadows (thatch) carpeted with wildflowers, dancing rivers and streams and snow clad mountains. Combine this with an interest in the variety of birds, wildlife, forest and wildflowers and the opportunity to view the many snow-capped peaks and you have all the ingredients for a highly rewarding holiday in the form a multi activity camp specially designed for the youth & families who want to experience something unique.
Kangra district lies between 31? 21? to 32? 59? N latitude and 75? 47? 55? to 77? 45? E longitude. It is situated on the southern escarpment of the Himalayas. The entire area of the district is traversed by the varying altitude of the Shivaliks, Dhauladhar and the Himalayas from north-west to south-east. The altitude varies from 500 metres above mean sea level (amsl) to around 5500 meters. It is encapsulated in the north by the districts of Chamba and Lahaul and Spiti, in the south by Hamirpur and Una, in the east by Mandi and in the west by Gurdaspur district of Punjab

Best Time to Visit Dhauladhar & Kangra Valley
The season for the valley is very interesting throughout the year. It has lots to offer to a traveller. Except for the rainy months from July, August and mid September, it offers a diverse experience to a vacationer. Summer starts from April mid till June and is the perfect time to explore deep valleys, glaciers, gurgling streams, meadows while on a trek. From Sept mid onwards, the rains recede and the weather is perfect. It becomes chillier as we move till December and there is a nip in the air. Snow starts falling by Jan mid and it snows till March in the mountains. Springtime is from March to mid April with amazing flowers blooming in the valleys and it looks almost like a riot of colours. The rhododendrons are a delight with so many colours.
