Overview
The Namik glacier is located on the Kumaon Himalayas in Uttarakhand, with an elevation of 3,600 meters, surrounded by magnificent peaks such as Nanda Kot (6,861 m), Nanda Devi (7,848 m), and Trishul (7,120 m). The Namik Glacier is one of the most tranquil terrains in the world, with the trail en route showcasing dense foliage, meadows, water springs,
and view of the magnificent peaks making this trek even more beautiful and attractive. During this trek, you also visit the Hiramani Glacier, which has a height of 3,620 meters. The entire route of trekking follows the Ramganga River through grasslands, mountains, and glaciers.
For Namik glacier trekking, the access point is the Bageshwar town and exiting from Munsiyari town. Namik is 40 km from Munsiyari. While trekking you will visit the villages of Namik and Gogina. While trekking to the Namik Glacier, the trekkers find breathtaking nature and views of the Himalayas surrounded by all around,
which are very enchanting. The road continues to explore ancient temples and local culture. Namik Village is situated on the Indo-Tibet trade route, and is particularly rich in heritage from the two villages of Gogina and Namik.
How to Reach Bageshwar, Namik Glacier
The gateway for this trek is from Bageshwar. We have three options to go to Bageshwar, which is as follows.
By Air: The nearest airport to Bageshwar to go by air is Pantnagar, which is located at Udham Singh Nagar in Uttarakhand, 180 km from Bageshwar. There are four flights from Delhi to Pantnagar for each week. Local taxi and bus services are available from Pantnagar to Bageshwar.
By Train: The nearest station to come to Bageshwar by Train is Kathgodam in Nainital district. The distance to this railway station is 154 km from Bageshwar. Because it is the gateway to the Kumaon district of Uttarakhand.
By Road: Bageshwar is connected by roads with the Garhwal and Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. To come to Bageshwar, you can take a bus from Delhi's ISBT Anand Vihar. Buses are available from Anand Vihar to Almora, Haldwani, Nainital, and many other places in Uttarakhand. After this you can also book local buses and taxis from Bageshwar.
Namik Glacier Trek Difficulty Level - Namik and Hiramani Glacier trek is a moderate level trek. One should have prior experience of trekking before signing up for this trek.
Best Season: April end - June/ September mid - November. Avoid monsoons from July to September mid.
