Overview
Kargil is a beautiful city and joint capital of the Union Territory of Ladakh in India. Kargil is the second largest city of Ladakh after Leh. It is situated on the banks of river Suru at a distance of 204 km east of Srinagar and 234 km west of Leh. Kargil is situated in the high Himalayan mountains, which enjoys pleasant summers and cool winters. In the months of November to February, the temperature here drops to below zero levels. The temperature here reaches -10°C to -14°C during winters. In the months from November to February, there is a lot of snowfall here, the Himalayas and the whole place is covered with a sheet of snow. Due to which it gets very cold here.
