How To Reach Great Lakes Trek in
Kashmir
By Air - Srinagar Airport is well connected to major cities of India. There are frequent flights from cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chandigarh, and Kolkata. The airport of Srinagar is located about 70 km away from Sonamarg.
By Road - Sonamarg National Highway 1D can be reached through any other state of India. Sonamarg is about 87 km from the Srinagar bus stand. Sufficient public buses and taxis are available from the Srinagar Bus to stand to Sonamarg.
By Rail -The Jammu Tawi Railway station is the most convenient stop, from where frequent buses and cabs are available for Sonamarg.

Your trekking journey will start from today, after breakfast start the trek to Nichani. This trek is around 10Kms. Which may take 6 to 7 hours to complete.
After breakfast in the morning, trek to Vishansar Lake via Nichnai Pass. This trek of a distance of approx 8 Kms from Nichnai to Vishansar Lake takes about 6-7Hrs. Vishansar Lake is an High altitude oligotrophic lake, Which is situated at an altitude of about 3710 metres above sea level. This lake is home to many types of fishes and Creatures, It holds great importance for Kashmiri Pandits. Its water freezes during the winter season and during the summer season around the lake is green lush meadows where local shepherds graze their flocks of sheep and goat. The Lake with its scenic beauty, snow-covered mountains, glaciers, meadows, and alpine flowers is an attraction for the trekkers in the Kashmir Valley.
Overnight stay in Camp Vishansar Lake
This trek goes to Gadsar Lake from Vishansar Lake via Kishensar Lake, Gadsar Pass, and finally to Gasar Lake, which is approx 8 Kms from Vishansar Lake. It takes about 6-7 hours to cover this distance.
Gadsar Lake: It is also called the valley of flowers. which is located at Altitude 3600 M in Ganderbal District of Kashmir Valley. Maximum length of this lake is 0.85 Kms and maximum width of 0.76 kms.
Overnight stay in Camp Gadsar
Today?s trail starts on level ground descending down slowly to the river bed for about a couple of hours. We will cross the glacier over the river near the army camp and then start ascending steeply for the next couple of hours. As the trail turns west in the next valley, we cross some very windy open grasslands leading to the Satsar Lakes. Once we cross the Satsar lakes, we camp this evening at Mengan Dob. The trail becomes rocky as we cross the 3 Satsar Lakes. It?s a long walk today
Overnight stay in Camp Mengan Doobta
Early morning after breakfast you will start the trek to Gangabal Lake. This trek passes from Mengan Doobta over the very rocky Zachibal Pass, with great views of Mount Harmukh and Gangabal Lake. Harmukh is the 3rd highest peak of the Kashmir Valley. Harmukh mountain is located at an elevation of 5,142 metres in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir. Harmukh is part of the Himalaya Range which is located between Nallah Sindh in the south side and Kishanganga River in the north side, rising above Gangabal Lake in the vicinity of Kashmir valley. The best part of this pass and the treat to the eyes is the first look of the view you get of twin lakes of Gangabal Lake ? Nundkol and Gangabal Lakes.The trail ascends steeply towards Zachibal Pass and the route is very tricky in many parts. One really needs to be careful both while ascending and then descending down to Gangabal Lake
Overnight stay in Camps
Today will be the last day of the trek. Post breakfast in the morning, you will start the trek to Narang. This trek passes through meadows and forests. As the trek descends down, the route becomes very steep and rocky throughout until one reaches naranag. Drop at Srinagar Airport.
Naranag is a tourist village which is an ancient Hindu pilgrimage site located in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir. It is situated about 8 km upstream from Kangan. Naranag is a beautiful village nestled amidst beautiful meadows, lakes and mountains.
