Galapagos Islands Cruise
Arrive at the Quito International Airport and check into your hotel for the day. Orient yourself with the capital city of Ecuador.
Post breakfast, enjoy a guided city tour. Stand on the equatorial line at the Intiñan Solar Museum, and marvel at the monastery of San Francisco and la Compañia Church. Have lunch with a panoramic city view. Dinner will be a gourmet array of local delicacies.
Post breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Baltra, Galapagos. Embark your Galapagos Islands Cruise from here. The ship departs from Baltra and reaches Daphne Island, just north of Santa Cruz Island. This area is famous for its wildlife such as sea lions, pelicans and blue footed boobies.
The ship arrives at Egas Port in Santiago Island, famous for its geology. You can walk on black and brown beaches, snorkel or spot some fur seals. Shortly after, depart for Rabida Island, famous for red sand and eroded volcano landscaping.
Elizabeth Bay in the Isabela Island is one of the westernmost points of the Galapagos. It is famous for seals and its mangrove ecosystem. The ship then heads to the Tagus Cove. Historically an anchorage for pirates and whalers, this site offers a breathtaking view of Isabela, its volcanoes, and a saltwater lagoon.
Arrive at Sullivan Bay in Santiago Island. This area was covered with volcanic lava in the 1900s. The cooling down and solidified land has made it a geological wonderland today. Later, head for Bartolomé Island which provides amazing photography opportunities for the scenery it boasts. You can even spot the Galapagos Penguins here.
Las Bachas in Santa Cruz Island is a nesting ground for flamingos and sea turtles surrounded by two large natural pools. After admiring the wildlife here, the ship reaches North Seymour Island, the largest colony of frigate birds in Galapagos. You can snorkel in this area or spend plenty of time birdwatching.
Visit the small waterfront town of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, the administrative capital of the islands, followed by Punta Pitt, which allows for the rare opportunity to visit one of the few locations in the Galapagos where you can observe all three species of boobies–Blue, Red and Nazca–and two species of frigate birds nesting in the same area.
Puerto Ayora in Santa Cruz Island contains the National Park Service for tortoises and the Charles Darwin research center. Have the opportunity to interact with tortoises here and walk through a lava tunnel.
Transfer from Baltra back to Quito in mainland Colombia and spend the rest of the day at your leisure.
Depart for the airport post breakfast for your flight back home as the amazing experience of the Galapagos Islands culminates.
