About Chamba Valley Trek
Chamba was once a rich princely state founded on the banks of River Ravi by the rulers of Chamba in Himachal Pradesh. The sprawling valley is endowed with charismatic natural beauty and worth visiting dotted by majestic palaces and distinct hill culture that takes pride in its folklore. The famous Taal Bollywood movie featuring Anil Kapoor & Aishwarya Rai was also shot here in1999.
From the snow peaks of the neighboring Bada Bhangal in the Dhauladhar Himalaya, River Ravi flows down the Chamba valley. Bhandal and Salooni are 2 jewels of the Chamba valley waiting to be discovered. Salooni is a small very scenic village perched high on the ridge tucked away in the wilderness below the high rising mountain peaks.
Bhandal valley borders the state of Jammu close to the Kishtwar region. The Bhandal Valley region in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh offers breathtaking mountain scenery, charming riverside villages, slate-roofed hay sheds, beautiful trails, and charming forests all gathered together. The area is known as the "Champa Garden" as in history.
It is located in the valley on the right bank of the River Ravi, separating it from the main area and creating its own world. The valley is also home to the high-altitude wildlife sanctuary of Gamgul Sibeshi Wildlife Reserve in Salooni tehsil of Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh making the valley an ideal base for hiking, fishing, and bird watching.
