Overview

Bailey Trail Trek Expedition (4900M)

  • Trip Type: High Altitude Trekking
  • Trip gradient: Challenging
  • Region: Arunachal Pradesh
The Bailey Trek Expedition trail dates back to the historic routes walked by Capt H. T. Morshead and Lt. Col. F. M. Bailey while mapping and drawing the famous McMohan line in 1914 while surveying the Arunachal Tibet border during the British Raj in India.

Thus, this route became famous as Bailey's Trail. The Bailey's Trail goes through towering mountain passes, deserted army bunkers, remote jungles, clear fresh mountain lakes, and magnificent views of Mt. Gorichen (6858 M) and Mt. Kangto peaks (Mt 7090M). Mt. Gorichen Peak towering (6858 M) is the highest peak in Arunachal Pradesh. Situated in the Tawang District of Arunachal Pradesh, it is 164 km away.

The starting point for this expedition includes some of the inaccessible forests in the eastern Himalayas, where cedar, oak, and rhododendron coexist in the Himalayan range connecting a series of six interconnected interlocking valleys. This was initially a previous trade route that connects Tibet, Burma, and Tibet.

The Chinese period used this route in 1962 to launch a deep attack on Arunachal Pradesh. At 4550 meters, the highest point of this intersection is Sela Pass. During the journey, you will be amazed by the awe-inspiring landscapes passing through the villages of the Monpa tribe.
